Rwanda Moutain Tea Ltd has been granted 2 organic certifications for its new tea garden of Rutsiro and Kitabi - Busenyi block

To cater for the needs of increasingly health conscious consumers both in Rwanda and abroad, Rwanda Mountain Tea Ltd has allocated its Rutsiro tea gardens for production of organic tea (black CTC, green and orthodox tea).

After an international audit by ECOCERT France represented by its Madagascar branch, Rutsiro Tea Factory has seen its EOS organic certification intended to allow trade of the processed products in Europe extended for year 2016.

As a means of increasing the accessibility of Rutsiro teas to American markets, Rutsiro Tea Factory applied this year 2015 for a NOP organic certification, which was granted by the certifying body after a thorough audit.

Busenyi block, which is a field extension of Kitabi garden, was allocated since first planting of seedling for growth of organic tea leaves.

This year a request was introduced towards its EOS and NOP certification, and after a thorough review of the procedures and organic materials used, the 2 certifications were granted in August 2015.
