Dr. Martin Obanda obtained PhD in Plant Biochemistry and Enzymology from Imperial College of Science, Technology & Medicine in London, UK in1990.
He is Director of Production andf Innovations at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology from October 2010. He is also Chief Trainer on Tea Value Chain challenges at TSEA Ltd offering training in Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda. He served as Chief Trainer for Tea Science East Africa in Kenya from 2008 to 2010. He was also Associate Professor at Maseno University in Kenya from 2004 to 2007.
Dr. Obanda handled various portfolios in the United Kingdom and Japan. He was a British Council Fellow - HPLC Analysis of Green and Black Tea Constituents at Natural Resources Institute, Chatham, United Kingdom in 1995. He was also a Science and Technology Agency (STA) Fellow - Near Infra-Red Analysis of Black Tea Constituents at National Research Institute of Vegetables, Ornamental Plants, and Tea (NIVOT), Kanaya, Japan in 1997.
He has membership of professional bodies such as Natural Products Research Network of East and Central Africa (NAPRECA), Chemical Society of Kenya and Kenya Institute of Food Science and Technology.
