Gatare Tea Factory is a newly constructed facility located in Rushyarara cell, Karambi sector, Karongi District, Western Province.

The factory largely relies on Outgrowers grouped under cooperative called COTHEGA for supply of green leaf tea. Outgrowers plantations sit on a total of 1,195Ha, supplying an average of 3.5Million Kgs of green leaf.

RMT also has some plantations around the factory totaling to 235Ha, yielding an average of a Million Kgs of green leaf a year. Gatare Tea Factory produced an average of about 1million Kgs of Black CTC, mainly for export.

In terms of employment, over 1,107 people including Managers, factory engineers and technicians, Agronomists, cleaners and Pluckers, and increases the number of workers as the production and operations increase.

The Outgrowers cooperative has a total 3,093 members.
