This is a new, innovative and exciting CSR activity that involves construction of modern Child Daycare Centres at all RMT Tea Factories across the country.

The purpose of this project is to support women tea pluckers in raising their children in a healthy and better standard of living. RMT is injecting Rwf130Millions in building and furnishing five (5) modern Daycare Centre at all its factories in; Rubaya, Nyabihu, Rutsiro, Kitabi and Gatare. Each centre is expected to accommodate about 50 children of the age between 0 to 3 years. At the Centre, children will be fed well, and provided with bedding facilities.

Those that come of school age will as well be taught at the centre. Each facility is furnished with a modern kitchen and chef, plus experienced nannies to take care of the children as their mothers spend the day plucking tea. It benefits the mothers because they can spend more time plucking tea and thus can earn higher, moreover their little ones can also benefit better care and feeding.

However, it also benefits RMT because the company can realize more green leaf tea picked at the end of the day. RMT has also attracted a number of partners in executing this innovative project, including; UNICEF, MINISANTE, NAEB, Local Government (Districts/Sector Leaders).

It is hoped that the same project will be replicated among the Outgrowers Cooperatives with the help of partners such as, MINISANTE, IFAD, and UNICEF. Efforts are underway to make this happen. NB: The projects benefits tea Pluckers who work on RTM Tea Plantations. .
